Emergency Notification System (UTalert)

""   Overview and Key Features:

UTalert is a service that allows the University to quickly send important messages via email, SMS text and mobile app push notifications. UTalert complements other University communications channels, such as websites and social media.

All current members of the University community are automatically subscribed to the system for University-issued mass notifications using their official U of T email address.

The University will use the UTalert system to send you messages via email, SMS text, or mobile app push notification.

UTalert texts will come from the phone number 855-756-1140. Creating a contact on your phone for this number called “UTalert” may make it easier to identify text notifications.

The UTalert website provides the ability to customize your notification options.

Alumni Email

""   Overview and Key Features:

The Alumni email service provides a personalized email address ending in @alumni.utoronto.ca, along with access to calendar and contact tools. It is hosted on the Microsoft platform and is designed to offer continued connection with the University of Toronto community after graduation.

Key features include:

  • Microsoft Outlook web access

  • Calendar and contact syncing

  • Support for desktop and mobile apps

To access your alumni email account, log in using your full alumni email address and password at https://alumnimail.utoronto.ca.

You can also configure your account on supported desktop clients (like Outlook or Mac Mail) or mobile email apps. Instructions for setup are available in the Knowledge Base linked below.

System Status Page

The ITS System Status Page provides an overview of current service status messages and scheduled maintenance for major University of Toronto systems and services. The System Status Page is maintained by the Joint Operations Group (JOG) in Information Technology Services (ITS) and welcomes contributions from IT providers across the University Community.

The Enterprise Service Centre (ESC), powered by ServiceNow, offers a modern and intuitive interface that streamlines service requests, enables seamless collaboration, and delivers real-time data for informed, evidence-based decision-making. It ensures users have access to the information they need, when they need it.

ESC consolidates legacy ticketing systems, emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries into a single platform. It also provides self-service options for frequently asked questions and shares timely updates about new services and initiatives across the University.

Timetable Builder

The Timetable Builder is the University of Toronto’s official visual timetable building tool, which provides an intuitive, accessible and mobile-friendly user interface.

Visit the Timetable Builder portal where you can:

  • Manually or automatically generate a visual course timetable based on your preferred course sections and time preferences.
  • Easily search for courses across divisions with improved filtering by course code, course title or keyword, delivery method (in-person, online, hybrid), as well as by department and subject area.
  • Block off time to accommodate part-time job schedules and other commitments.
  • See near real-time information about course sections, including space availability, waitlists, special instructions, and easy-to-understand enrolment controls.

Transfer Explorer

The Transfer Explorer can be used as a guide to determine if completed coursework at an external institution or division is eligible for transfer credits at the University of Toronto.

Current University of Toronto students may use the Transfer Explorer as a guide to see if and how courses will transfer back to the University of Toronto for degree credit. This would be relevant for the following cases:

In Addition, prospective students who wish to transfer to the University of Toronto from other Canadian or International Institutions may use Transfer Explorer as a guide to see how the courses they studied at these institutions will be assessed at the University of Toronto

Degree Confirmation

""   Overview and Key Features:

This service is for prospective employers and other educational institutions to verify the credentials of University of Toronto graduates. This minimizes the risk of credential fraud and protects our graduates from the illicit use of their designations by others.

A degree is not considered to be conferred until the date of convocation. If this person is expected to graduate at a future date, please allow several days after the date of conferral before submitting your request.

""   Getting Started:

The University’s degree verification system attempts to identify graduates based on the information you provide. You will be asked to provide:

  • Student Number (if possible)
  • First (and Middle) Names
  • Last Name
  • Day and month of birth

Degree Planning and Audit Tool

""   Overview and Key Features:

Degree Explorer is the University of Toronto’s degree planning tool. Review your academic history, degree requirements or use the planner to determine how future course choices might meet your requirements.

Degree Explorer also allows you to assess your overall progress in your degree or program. Ensure you are eligible to graduate by reviewing the requirements of your degree or program. Degree Explorer can tell you which requirements have been met and which are still outstanding.

""   Getting Started:

   Plan your degree:

The planner allows you to create up to five hypothetical degree scenarios. Drag and drop courses to map out prerequisites, electives and core courses.

   Review your academic history:

See your progress towards graduation and what is required each year to get you there. View your past and current courses, marks and any advanced standing. Courses in your Academic History are used in the assessment of your program or degree.

Degree Explorer Admin allows administrators to perform requirements and completion assessments for students’ courses and programs. It also allows for admin users to create and configure completion rules for programs and degrees.

Student Information System (ACORN)

"" Overview and Key Features:

Acorn is U of T’s student information system, and it stands for Accessible Campus Online Resource Network. Students use ACORN to enroll in courses, check fees and finances, update address and contact information and much more. The purpose of ACORN is to provide a more convenient, personalized and guided experience for students using U of T’s online services.

"" Getting Started:

Similar to other U of T systems like Quercus or Degree Explorer, you will use your UTORid and password to log in to ACORN. Those who have signed up for UTORMFA, U of T’s Multi-Factor Authentication service, will be prompted to provide multi-factor authentication when logging in.
